Age Regression
What is age regression?
Age regression occurs when someone reverts to a younger state of mind. This retreat may be only a few years younger than the person’s physical age. It could also be much younger, into early childhood or even infancy.

Age regression is sometimes used in psychology and hypnotherapy. It can also be used as a self-help tool, or something someone does to reduce stress.

Some mental health conditions make age regression more likely. Such as:
-
schizophrenia
-
dissociative identity disorder
-
schizoaffective disorder
-
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
-
major depressive disorder
-
dementia
-
borderline personality disorder (BPD)

I use age regression as a coping mechanism. Life is not always easy for everyone and everybody isn't going to have a coping skill like age regression. Not everybody is going to be able to do it or is comfortable with it.

As long as you have a coping mechanism that does not harm yourself or others, certain coping skills are viable.
